Check out some Offensive Strategies for Boom Beach. All with their own Troops and use of the Gunboat weaponry.
Meat Shield
Use Troops with high hitpoints as a living shield or meat shield for troops with low hitpoints. Troops like the Heavy can take a lot of hits and can therefore be used as a shield for other more vulnerable troops like the Zooka or Rifleman.
Start your attack by deploying some Heavies. The enemy defense attacks the first target within reach (in this case the Heavies) and the other troops behind the Heavies can target the enemy defense from a safe distance.
This strategy is especially useful with defensive structures that can easily terminate Troops with low hitpoints, like the Rocket Launcher and Machine Gun.
Sniping
Attack with Heavies and Riflemen and use Flares to direct them around the reach of enemy structures towards the Headquarters. This technique is usefull with base layouts with the Headquarters in the far back with little or no defense behind it. Be carefull with defense with a long range like the Boom Cannon, Mortar and Rocket Launcher.
Rush or Rushing
Attack the beach with a large number of Troops, mostly Riflemen. Because of the enormous amount of targets the single-shot defenses like the Cannon, Boom Cannonand Sniper Tower have no chance of terminating all Troops.
This strategy is especially effective with a lot of single-shot defenses. Be careful with defense that does splash damage like the Mortar, Flamethrower or Rocket Launcher. Large numbers of Troops can easily be terminated by these defensive buildings.
HQ Rushing
Headquarter Rushing can be done with Warriors. They move fast and have the ability to heal themselves. Deploy the Warriors and use Flares to direct them immediately towards the Headquarters. Use Shock Bombs and Smoke Screens to get them there without lots of casualties. Warriors do a lot of damage so this attack is very fast and effective.
Be careful with defenses that do a lot of Damage per Second like the Cannons, Boom Cannons and Sniper Towers. These defenses, especially at higher levels, can easily take out a Warrior. Destroy these structures with Artillery or disable them temporarily with the Shock Bomb.
Defensive Strategies
Check out some Defensive Strategies for Boom Beach. Which layout should you choose? Where do you place your Defensive Buildings?
Defend Your Headquarters
To win the battle, the attacker has to destroy your Headquarters. When the Headquarters is destroyed, everything else blows up and the attacker is rewarded with Resources stolen from you!! Therefore, you need to defend your Headquarters at all costs. A large portion of your Defensive Buildings should overlap this important building.
Protect your non Defensive Buildings
The Sawmill, Gold storage, etc. All of these buildings are worthless to you when it comes to defending your base. But this doesn’t mean you can just ignore these building and place them anywhere you want. For every building the attacker destroys, they get 3 Energy for their Gunboat. This makes them important to the attacker, and therefore they are important to you! To avoid this, place these buildings within range of your defenses, and in spots where the attacker won’t easily destroy them.
Space between buildings
If the corners of two, three or four buildings are touching each other, one Artillery Shell can damage all of them at once by shooting at the spot where the buildings touch each other.
Look at the picture below, if your defenses are placed like on the left, the attacker can shoot an Artillery shell right in the middle. If the buildings are placed like on the right, then this is no longer possible.
Look at the picture below, if your defenses are placed like on the left, the attacker can shoot an Artillery shell right in the middle. If the buildings are placed like on the right, then this is no longer possible.
Also think of spreading out your Defensive Buildings. Even with some space between them, dont pack them all together. At Headquarters level 7, Shock Bombs are unlocked. These are fired from the Gunboat, and they disable defenses within a 3.5 unit radius. If you place your Defensive Buildings close together, a large group of them can be disabled at once. So by spreading your defensive buildings you can avoid this.
Placement during upgrades
When a Defensive Building is being upgraded, it will become inactive, and doesn’t defend your Base. If you are upgrading a Defensive Building on a important spot (close to your Headquarters) try an swap it with another defensive building to compensate for it.
Popular Types of Base Layouts
Below are some of the most popular types of Base Layouts.
The Corner Layout
Pros: Its placement gives the enemy only one angle to attack from, allowing you to focus on defending only one side of the Headquarters.
Cons: Defenses are placed close together. They can easily be Shock-Bombed,Barraged, and destroyed.
Cons: Defenses are placed close together. They can easily be Shock-Bombed,Barraged, and destroyed.
The Frontal layout
Pros: Immediately attacks the Troops from the first the moment they step off of theLanding Crafts. The attacker has very little time to react.
Cons: The Headquarters is placed very close to the sand, making it an easy attack forWarriors and Smoke Screens.
Cons: The Headquarters is placed very close to the sand, making it an easy attack forWarriors and Smoke Screens.
The Middle Layout
Pros: Defensive Buildings are spread out on all four sides of the Headquartes, and troops have to do a lot of walking to destroy them.
Cons: The attacker can attack from multiple angles, so you must have strong Defensive Buildings on all sides.

While scouting, always keep an eye out to see what kind of layouts other people at your level are using? You can compare your own base with them, or maybe you will spot an perfect Layout for yourself.

Attack your own Base
Of course this is not really possible, but try and imagine that you’re attacking yourself. How would you attack your own base? Make adjustments to your Layout out based on those thoughts.

Lt. Hammerman
Attacking strategies for all available levels of Lt. Hammerman in Boom Beach are listed and explained on this page.
Hammerman’s Headquarters 1, Lvl 10
- Troops: 15 Riflemen
- Unload your Landing Crafts to the far right.
- Immediately place a Flare far right of the second row of mines. Some mines in the first row will blow and damage some of your Riflemen, but that’s no problem.
- Use another Flare to the right of the Vault. Let the Riflemen destroy the Vault, just to make sure that you have enough Battle Points for the Flares.
- When the vault is destroyed, use Flares to bring your Riflemen straight above the Headquarters. Some of your Troops will be destroyed by the Mortar and MMG9000. But a few Riflemen will remain unattacked and will destroy the Headquarters.
Tip
It can be wise to wait with destroying Hammerman’s Headquarters until you have unlocked Stone (HQ6) or even Iron (HQ9) for those with mayor patience. If you take out Hammerman before you unlock these resources, you’ll miss some serious loot.

- Troops: 54 Warriors (Lvl18)
- Unload your Landing Crafts in front of the Machine Gun.
- Use a Flare on the first Machine Gun and immediately use a Smoke Screen on the first Machine Gun.
- Next use another Flare on the last Machine Gun. Use a Smoke Screen in the middle and one on the last Machine Gun, creating a safe path for your Warriors.
- Some Warriors will get hurt by some Mines, but this is no problem.
- When all Warriors have arrived at the last Machine Gun, use a Flare on the Headquarters.
- Use multiple Smoke Screens along the way. Also place one around the Headquarters.
- Place a Medkit around the Headquarters to heal your Warriors.
- When the Smoke Screen is worked out, use one Shock bomb on the MGM9000 and surrounding buildings, one on one of the two Boom Cannons, and one on the Super Mortar and surrounding buildings on the right.

Task Force Multiplayer
Coordinate attacks against the blackguard together! You can find all available information about the Task Force here.
The social and multiplayer aspect of Boom Beach is called ‘Task Force’. You can create or join a Task Force and fight the Blackguard together! Only this time the Blackguard is not located on one of the islands but you are going to fight him on the mainland. Together you can attack the Blackguard bases and not only destroy as many Power Cores as you can, but also gather up as many pieces of Intel as possible. Gathering Intel will allow you to uncover the Blackguard mainland. Use your intel and chat with your Task Force to pick the right targets!
Task Force Facts
- Task Forces are available from Headquarters level 6.
- A Task Force can have four different player sizes: 5, 10, 25 and 50 members.
- A starting Task Force can hold only 5 members, you can choose to raise it to 10, 25 or 50 members at max.
- When you raise your Task Force’s maximum member size, you can not decrease it again!!!
- The bigger the Task Force, the more difficult operations it can take, and therefore get greater rewards. But coordinating an attack with so many players definitely shall increase the difficulty.
- Every Task Force can create an unique Hashtag ID. For Example #pbb. These Hashtags can be used to find a specific Task Force.
- The symbol of your Task Force can be edited. You can choose between lots of options for Background, Middle and Foreground. Therefore your Task Force symbol will be quite unique, there are 3.360 variations possible!!
- Perform operations to earn Force Points. The players in the Task Force work together to take down Blackguard Factories.
- Operations display “too easy”, “easy”, “normal”, “hard” or “impossible” based on your Task Force’s strength.
- Previous operations can be viewed from the operations map.
- You can spend Intel to sabotage defensive buildings. Which building get destroyed is randomly chosen.
- There are three ranks that people in a Task Force can have:
- Leader: Can start Operations, promote other members, kick other members and edit Task Force info.
- Officer: Can start Operations and kick other members.
- Member: Cannot start Operations, promote other members or kick other members.
Intel Explained
Only when you are in a Task Force your victories provide a chance to get Intel. If Intel is rewarded then it will be contributed to your Task Force. The total of all Intel within the Task Force is needed to start operations. When you leave the Task Force, your Intel will remain with the Task Force. You don’t take it with you.
Rewards
When an operation ends you receive a reward. This reward is called “operation reward”. This operation reward is delivered to your home base by a captured Blackguard freighter when the operation ends. Every Task Force member gets an operation reward, irrespective of the damage they deal during the operation. Also the amount of operation reward depends on the success of the operation and your XP level.
